In recent years, the Mini VAN has all but disappeared from the streets; it is a rare thing indeed to see one for sale. This particular car we have on offer was delivered to a contracting firm located in Bergen, Noord-Holland in March of 1981. They used it as a service car. With approximately 24,855 km on the clock in the 1990s, the car fell into disuse. A few years later, the Mini came into the possession of restoration firm and Mini specialist Nanne Engineering. He intended to restore the car and then use it for promotional activities. The bodywork, still in remarkably good condition, was the first thing to be restored. The original sheet metal work could be retained but the car did need to be resprayed. This was done in 1999. However, as so often happens with projects like this, other jobs took priority and the restoration project was put on hold until work on the car was finally resumed in 2017. The intention was to get the Mini technically up to date as much as possible without sacrificing any of its original charm. The 1000cc engine, for example, was replaced by a more modern and powerful 1300cc monopoint injection engine. The drum brakes on the front wheels were replaced by power-assisted disc brakes and the original exhaust system was replaced by one made of stainless steel. All these changes ensure that the car will have no trouble at all keeping up with modern traffic. This fully restored Mini VAN is truly unique.
