356 PRE-A SPEEDSTER
We can safely say that this unrestored matching numbers 356 Pre-A Speedster is a unique car. The car left the factory in October 1955 and was taken on by its first owner in America in January 1956. In 1971, 47 years ago, the car switched ownership, and it has remained with the same owner ever since. The huge amount of bills which have been preserved shows that he loved his car. These bills mostly cover maintenance work. In 2005 a revision was carried out on the engine. The combination of a Speedster Pre-A with a 1600cc engine is rare. Porsche built just a few examples of the Pre-A with this engine, all of them in October 1955. The engine fitted in the car has number 60032, indeed the 32th 1600cc Porsche engine built. Photographs do not really do justice to the car’s rugged appearance and the visual traces of its rich history. It is not our intention to promote this car as a restoration object. Given its original and stainless state, and its exterior lending this Speedster its special charm, we would rather regret any restoration, as restored Speedsters are anything but a rarity on the classic car market.
