After BMW took over Glas in 1967, the Glas 1700 GT Coupe was produced, as the BMW 1600 GT, for one last year. The car got the typical BMW family face and the engine, gearbox and rear axle were all borrowed from the BMW 1600 TI. Otherwise, the car retained the exterior of the Glas cars. Between September 1967 and August 1968, a total of 1,255 examples of this type were built. These days, very few BMW 1600 GTs are being brought to market. Many of these cars have not stood the test of time and the examples that have remained are now in the hands of collectors. The 1600 GT we offer was newly delivered in the Netherlands and has never left the country since. In 2015 and 2016, a thorough restoration was carried out in a most professional way and this is reflected in the state of the car today. The car is not only a feast for the eyes, but a great car to drive, too.
