996 CARRERA 4S TIPTRONIC
Porsche introduced the 996 in 1998. The 996 succeeded the 993 and was the first Porsche 911 with a water-cooled 6-cylinder boxer engine. Initially, not all Porsche purists gave the 996 an enthusiastic welcome. They needed some time to get used to the oval headlights, but what made it worse was that the 996 did not have the engine sound that had been characteristic of the air-cooled boxer engine. However, the brand had to keep up with the times and the ever more stringent requirements in the field of exhaust emission. With this water-cooled boxer, Porsche laid the foundation of the future. Indeed, all competitors had adopted this way of cooling. The 996 was available in various body versions: the Coupe, the Targa and the Cabriolet, with, because of their wider body, the Turbo and the 4S being the most athletic.
This Carrera Coupe 4S, which we are proudly offering you, was delivered in May 2004 in the Netherlands and has never left the country. The car was ordered in the colour Arktis Silber, with a full leather black interior. Apart from that, just about “the whole booklet”, sunroof excepted, was ordered. The car has had two owners, who both used the car for everyday purposes. In 2015, the car was sold to a Porsche lover and collector who used the car very sparingly. All maintenance and repair bills have been retained and the Porsche certificate as well as all booklets with stamps are available.
In 2009, at a mileage of 120,321 km, a new exchange engine was installed by Porsche Centrum Amsterdam, which of course has been fully documented. Besides some minor scuffs, this 996 can be described as "as good as new", and this qualification applies to both the mechanicals and the cosmetic state of the car.
